Poetry is a clear window into the heart. I often write to express the thoughts and emotions inside me--not knowing what will appear on the page but invariably discovering more about myself and the world around me.

Love Wins

Posted Wednesday, July 13, 2011

In the end
When it's all said and done
Love wins

I'm not talking about sissy love
I'm talking about real love
Dig it out of the dirt
Fighting for hearts

Love wins
It throws fear out of the ring
It says, it doesn't matter
What you do
What you say
How much you fail
I love you anyway

It may take decades
It may take hours
But love wins

We think we have it figured out
We think we know how to get around the anxiety
How to eliminate the fear
We don't

Love works
Doesn't always feel right
Sometimes feels impossible
But love will always win

In the end
I'm going to keep loving
Keep fighting
For your heart
For my heart
For their hearts

In the end
You will know
I will know
They will know
